Holy Guacamole, My Brain Just Flexed A Muscle

I was just taking a shower and thinking about my health inspection tomorrow.

Pause:

For those of you who don’t know, I’m opening a wine bar! I failed my first health inspection, womp womp… but am feeling great about my re-inspection tomorrow!

Resume:

So I’m in the shower, kind of but not really freaking out about tomorrow. Mostly excitement!

But then my brain starts thinking about what if I fail… then I have to pay another fee … what could go wrong this time…

Then, without even realizing it, my brain snaps back to reality (oh there goes gravity!) and I’m mentally right back in the shower, just breathing.

I was so confused but happy that I got out of the little mental funk so quickly.

What in the actual fuck happened, though?

My daily, some times multiple times a day, meditation practice has just come into play- that’s what happened!

When you do mindful meditation, you focus on your breath. When your brain wanders, you just acknowledge the thought and come back to the breath. You do it for so long, after so many sessions and practice, you strengthen that muscle.

I think little ol me just flexed that muscle tonight! It was awesome, I just had to come on here and share.

Oh, also- I just hit my 50 meditation milestone on Peloton today.

Perfect timing.
