Phew! We are finally back home from a really relaxing and much needed family vacay. We took a family road trip to Oklahoma (Oklahoooomaaa, OKaaaaay!… Hugh Jackman anyone?).
We stayed in the Blue Beaver luxury cabins in Broken Bow and had such a chill time. It was so good to see cousins, uncles, my auntie. We love getting together to hangout and it was cool to do it to celebrate my uncle’s birthday.
What we liked
The kids had a blast! They absolutely loved seeing their cousins and playing outside. The cabin we stayed in had a little playground in the backyard that was perfect for the little ones. The cabin itself was huge and offered more than enough space for them to run and play (even when they weren’t supposed to 😉).

Us adults had plenty of space and fun, too. There was a pool table room, foosball upstairs, a nice wraparound porch with tables and a jacuzzi, a fireplace and a nice fire pit with chairs to sit around. I mean seriously, if you’re looking for relaxation, this is it.
We even ventured out of the cabin and went to the new casino there. It was my first time really being in a casino and I enjoyed it! We also took the kids to a nearby bowling alley that also had an arcade.
What we didn’t like
Pollen has been crazy the past few days all over, but when I tell you that stuff was raining down on us, it was like yellow snow!

I literally wore a mask when leaving the cabin. It was caked up on cars, the porch, literally everywhere. We also realized it was worse at the cabin than when you’re out in the main areas/streets. There are just so many trees where the cabins are, it was overwhelming to deal with the pollen. We cut the kids’s outside time short because of it.
The potholes leading into the cabins were absolutely terrible. If you don’t drive an SUV or truck into there, you’ll have to be extra extra careful. Some of those potholes were so large and deep, there was practically no avoiding them.
We will definitely be back
The overall vibe of the trip was just what I needed. I need a break from work, from my wine bar, from responsibilities at home. It just felt so good to have a few days of peace and nothing to worry about. And lord do I love the way it rains there! It sounded like buckets of water were just slamming into the cabin.
We’ll be planning another trip there, I’m sure. And if you’re looking for a place to regroup and relax, check it out yourself.
I’m not looking forward to going back to real life and work tomorrow. But at least I enjoyed it while it lasted and can look forward to whatever next fun thing that happens!
