It’s freezing outside, America. Let’s do something with our kids while we’re trapped in the house and keep our sanity at the same time. Making slime is a great way to get creative and keep the kids entertained. It’s easy to make and all you need are a few ingredients and some patience. Here’s how to make slime with your kids in three simple steps:

  • Get the supplies
  • Mix it all together
  • Make it your own!

First, you’ll need to gather the ingredients.

You will need Elmer’s glue, baking soda, and contact lens solution. These three ingredients are all you need to make your slime. For a fun twist, you can add food coloring or glitter to make your slime colorful and sparkly. I definitely recommend doing it in an area that is free from cloth or carpet that could get ruined by the coloring or glitter.

Next, you’ll need to mix the ingredients together.

Start by pouring the glue into a bowl, then add the baking soda and stir until it’s fully combined. Finally, add a few drops of contact lens solution and stir until the slime forms. You can also use a spoon or a mixer for a smoother consistency. Then get your hands in there and get it all mushy gushy to perfection!

Once the slime is mixed together, it’s time to get creative!

You can add food coloring, glitter, or other decorations to give your slime a unique look. Have your kids help with this step, as it will make the slime even more special.

Fun fact: You don’t need glue to make slime. There are many recipes out there that use alternative ingredients, such as liquid starch, Borax, or cornstarch. These recipes are just as easy to make, but they do require more ingredients.

Safety First

When making slime, it’s important to keep safety in mind. Make sure your kids are wearing gloves and washing their hands before and after making the slime. Also, keep the slime away from any pets or small children in the house!

Making slime with your kids is a great way to bond and get creative. It’s an easy activity that requires minimal ingredients, and you can make it as colorful and sparkly as you’d like. And the fact that it’s so easy to make creates a good excuse of “it’s time to throw it away…we can make more again”! You’re welcome 😉
